Board of Directors
President – Deb Joos
Deb started on the Friends of the KCAC board in 2007, becoming President in 2009. She also sits on the Donor Advisory Board of Directors for the Gift of Hope, helping improve the process and communication between the Gift of Hope organization and donor families, as well as help register donor families. Deb has been an active participant in our local volunteer community for 13+ years and loves to work in the yard and take care of her grandchild.
Treasurer – Ray Krouse
Raymond E. Krouse, Jr, CPA, is a partner on Sikich’s not-for-profit services team. Ray has nearly 20 years of public accounting experience. He has extensive experience in providing audit and consulting services to a wide variety of not-for-profit clients, including colleges and universities, voluntary health and welfare organizations, fraternal and other member organizations, and private foundations.
Secretary – James C. James, III
Jim is an attorney at Alschuler, Simantz & Hem, concentrating his practice in civil litigation. Jim serves as a court-appointed arbitrator for the Kane County Mandatory Arbitration System where he is chair-qualified. He also serves as a court-appointed guardian ad litem for children whose parents are involved in matrimonial disputes involving custody and visitation. Born in 1958 in Aurora, Jim has been a life-long resident of Kane County, presently residing in Geneva with his wife, Michele, and two children.
Vice President – Cathy Cavins
Cathy is an attorney whose practice is in Batavia. She previously served as an assistant state’s attorney in Kane County and handled numerous cases of sexual abuse before the Child Advocacy came into being. She also serves as a court appointed guardian ad litem for children in the Kane County Judicial System and as an arbitrator for the Kane and Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Systems. Cathy also has been involved in animal welfare in the community for many years.
