Champions4Children Walk – 10,000 Reasons To Lace ‘Em Up!

May 21, 2011 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

We need your help!  Funding cuts have taken their toll on many state supported and non-profit organizations, but it seems that Child Advocacy Centers have been hit especially hard and supportive services throughout the community are becoming scarcer.  While CACs are forced to operate on reduced funding, the child victims continue to need service.  Last fiscal year alone, CACs saw over 10,000 Illinois children.  In Kane County, the KCAC interviewed 587 children regarding abuse and provided counseling and support services to them and their family members while investigating 300 cases of sexual abuse, making us the second busiest CAC in the State.

How can you help?  Join us on on May 21st, 2011 for the Fourth Annual Champions4Children Walk and helps us raise awareness and funds in support of Kane County’s child abuse victims.  The Kane County Champions4Children 3 mile Walk will be held on May 21st, 2011, and will start at the Kane County Child Advocacy Center, 427, Campbell St. Geneva, IL. Start time: 9:00am (registration 8:30am). To register, simply go to http://illinois.events.nationalchildrensalliance.org/index.php?s=47&group_id=45 and click the link at the bottom to register or to make a donation to our group.

Through this statewide Walk, the KCAC , along with other Children’s Advocacy Centers from around the state, will increase public awareness about child abuse issues and expand people’s knowledge about not only the services Children’s Advocacy Centers provide, but also the difference these services make in a child’s life.  Nothing compares to the camaraderie that is built when trekking with your friends and colleagues committed to this worthy cause.  Walk with us and take an active role in the fight against child abuse.
